4.7 Reflect and Discuss

In this unit, we asked you to think, amongst other things, about:

    • ● your own variety of English and the register or style(s) you use in your classes;
      ● your students’ varieties of English and the register or style(s) they use in class;
      ● the varieties of English and the register or style(s) presented in the course books you use;
      ● the varieties of English and the register or style(s) presented in any supplementary materials you use in your classes;
      ● the roles you, your students and your textbook take in your classes, and what these roles imply about your understanding of what ‘English’ is and how it is learned;
      ● how you might assess whether your students’ individual grammars are able to accomplish the functions they were constructed for.
