Near peer role models (NPRMs) are individuals with similar demographic profiles to the students or the teachers who are participating in an awareness-raising session and who work or study in the same regional and educational context as them (in other words, they are ‘near peers’). They are ‘role models’ in the sense that they are demonstrating the beliefs and behaviours that the teacher educator is aiming to raise awareness of (in our case, plurilithic ideas about English).
